ATM security demonstration shows that security compliance is more important than ever.

A recent demonstration by Barnaby Jack, director of security testing for IOActive, showed that security vulnerabilities and programming errors continue to exist within ATM software. During his demonstration, Jack demonstrated with the push of a button, the ability to exploit existing vulnerabilities within ATM's resulting in the ejection of the machine's cash onto the floor. This demonstration served to highlight not only the common misconception that ATM are invulnerable, but also the importance of software and security upgrades to existing ATM's.
